No Resolutions? No Problem.
January has a habit of creating urgency.
An unspoken sense that we should be deciding something, fixing something, or moving forward, even when we’re not quite sure what or why.
If you notice that familiar pull to do something just to relieve the pressure, this short somatic pause is an invitation to stay with being instead. Not to find answers, but to notice what’s actually happening before action begins.
You don’t need to change anything. Just arrive.
Pause for a moment.
Notice where your body is making contact: the chair, the floor, the ground beneath you. Let your weight be held. Nothing needs to change yet.
Bring one slow breath in through your nose, and let it fall out of your mouth. Not controlled. Just honest. Let this be a pause, not a preparation.
If you’re feeling the urge to do something, to decide, to act, to move – notice that too. Without judging it. The urge itself is information.
Instead of asking what should I do?, gently ask what happens if I don’t act right now?
And then listen with your body.
Notice what responds first. A tightening in the chest. A flutter in the stomach. Shoulders lifting. Jaw clenching. Or maybe nothing at all. Whatever shows up is enough.
Place a hand on the area that feels most alive. Stay there for a few breaths. Often, clarity doesn’t arrive as an answer or a plan, but as a softening. A settling. A sense of “not yet.”
You might notice an image, a memory, or a simple feeling of “too much,” “unclear,” or “not ready.” That’s not resistance to be pushed through, it’s wisdom asking for time. The body doesn’t rush. It signals.
Clarity, in this way, isn’t about forcing direction. It’s about recognising when action is premature. Sometimes the most aligned response is to stay. To wait. To let something unfold a little more before moving.
When you’re ready, take one more breath and let your hand fall away. Notice what’s changed, even subtly.
That’s clarity beginning. Not from doing something quickly, but from allowing yourself to be where you already are.
